Tasks at the Ecotox Centre

  • Supervision of various applied projects
  • Evaluation and development of appropriate in vitro and in vivo test systems for the monitoring and protection of aquatic ecosystems
  • Sample preparation and application of various bioassays (in vivo and in vitro) (e.g. suites of bioassays)
  • Planning, implementation of and assistance in user and continuing education courses
  • Interaction with stakeholders

Areas of Expertise

  • Aquatic ecotoxicology:
    • in vivo tests with aquatic invertebrates (chironomids, daphnia, gammarids) and vertebrates (fish)
    • Effects of multiple (abiotic and biotic) stressors
    • Biomonitoring
    • Biochemical biomarkers (e.g. stress proteins)
  • Training „Fachökotoxikologie“ (SETAC-GLB)
  • Teaching in ecotoxicology
