Quality criteria for plant protection products

Effect-based quality criteria for plant protection products are necessary for the ecotoxicological assessment of surface water quality. The existing different assessment methods are based on various guidelines and protective goals and are continuously refined. In a situation analysis commissioned by the Federal Office for the Environment, the Ecotox Centre compared the EU assessment methods and the relevant protective goals and applied them to several plant protection products as case studies. The Ecotox Centre proposes a method for deriving quality criteria that complies with the goals of the Swiss water protection legislation.
