Encapsulated biocides are less toxic

Biocides in façade render prevent the growth of algae and fungi, but are also washed out into the environment with the rain. By the encapsulation of biocides in polymer spheres their initially higher toxicity on aquatic organisms can be decreased up to 12-fold: The Ecotox centre could show this in a recent project in collaboration with the University of Applied Sciences, Rapperswil. More information can be found in the project report.
