New soil ecotoxicologist at the Ecotox Centre

In June, Mathieu Renaud has started as new scientist in soil ecotoxicology at the Ecotox Centre in Lausanne.

Mathieu Renaud studied biology at the University of Madeira in Funchal, Portugal, and completed his Master's degree in Coimbra. He then did his PhD at the University of Coimbra in Portugal on the ecological relevance of the effects of metal mixtures in soils. After spending a few years in Canada at the University of Saskatchewan (on and off since 2015) as part of his PhD, Mathieu is now happy to be back in Europe. "I am looking forward to exploring beautiful Switzerland and being able to use my French in everyday life," says Mathieu, who is a dual citizen of Portugal and France. He very much appreciates the applied orientation of the Ecotox Centre and would now like to use the methods he learned in his research for the risk assessment of soils in Switzerland.
