Database with quality criteria and other ecotoxicological threshold values

Do you need to assess environmental concentrations of chemicals? The Ecotox Centre maintains a database of environmental quality criteria (EQS) and other ecotoxicological threshold values, which currently contains over 2000 entries on almost 600 substances. Acute and chronic EQS are used for risk assessment of chemicals in the environment. These EQS were derived either by the Ecotox Centre itself, by authorities and specialist bodies in other European countries or by EU authorities. The database also contains "ad hoc" values with a limited data search. These can provide an indication of whether a risk could exist. In addition, the database contains regulatory acceptable concentrations (RAC), which are used in the authorisation procedure for plant protection products.

You can find all EQS - together with indicators for mixture toxicity - on our website for download. We are happy to provide RAC values from various countries on request. New values are added on a regular basis. We contribute to the wider accessibility of EQS by making our values available to the database of the European NORMAN network (Network of reference laboratories for monitoring of emerging environmental pollutants). If you need EQS for substances that we do not have in our database, the Norman database is a good place to start.
