Scientists from Japan at the Ecotox Centre
The Ecotox Centre is currently hosting two visiting scientists from Japan. Miyu Moriya from the University of Shizuoka and Dr. Arisa Banno from the Research Institute for Environment, Agriculture and Fisheries in Osaka are working on advancing pesticide analysis using passive samplers. Their goal is to investigate whether the sampling rates of passive samplers for a wide range of pesticides and rodenticides can be predicted from physico-chemical properties.
To this end, they are conducting passive sampler experiments in a test channel under controlled conditions. The collaboration builds on a previous exchange. Dr Kazushi Noro from Shizuoka University was a visiting researcher at the Ecotox Centre in 2020. He also accompanied Miyu and Arisa at the beginning of their current stay.
