Ressource project Canton Geneva
The ‘Résulterre’ project aims to improve the quality of arable land in the Canton of Geneva whilst simultaneously sequestering carbon in the form of organic matter. A number of farmers are taking part in the project, which involves, amongst other things, investigating no-till farming methods. As part of the project, the Chambet stream, located near the fields whose farmers are participating in the project, is being monitored over the long term. As a result of the changes in farming methods, the use of herbicides could decline, which could potentially affect the water quality of the Chambet. The river will therefore be analysed in 2025 and 2026 using the combined algal test, which allows conclusions to be drawn about contamination with toxic substances and their effects.
