Sediment quality of lake Seealpsee: presence of microplastics and tire associated chemicals, ecotoxicological and biological assessments

This project aims to answer questions relating to the potential atmospheric deposition of microplastics and tire abrasion in Lake Seealpsee. Divers will take sediment samples, which will be analysed physically and chemically. In addition, the oligochaete communities in the lake sediment will be assessed using the IOBL index and the reaction of ostracods will be investigated in a bioassay (mortality and growth inhibition). The aim is to collect data on the sediment toxicity of an untouched Alpine lake.
