Ecotox Centre at SETAC Europe 2027 in Geneva
he Oekotoxzentrum is engaged in the next annual meeting of SETAC Europe, which will take place in Geneva from 25 to 29 April 2027. Our scientists are co-chairs of four sessions: If your work relates to one of these topics, now is the right time to submit your abstract. The Ecotox Centre is also part of the Programme Committee.
2.03 Chemical Effects Across Ecosystem Boundaries
What happens when a stressor moves from one compartment to another? The session combines microcosm, mesocosm and field studies with modelling, and asks how meta-ecosystem concepts could make risk assessment more ecologically realistic.
Chairs: Eric Bollinger, Maike Huszarik, Alejandra Pérez Vázquez, Alexandra Kroll
3.14 Following the Tire Track: From Emissions to Ecosystems and Human Health Impacts
Tire-road wear particles and rubber-derived chemicals, covering analytical methods, environmental fate, ecotoxicology, human exposure and risk assessment. The aim is to go beyond the general microplastics debate and set research priorities together with regulators and industry.
Chairs: Anna Toso, Victor Carrasco Navarro, Myriam Borgatta, Thibault Masset
4.20 When Prediction Meets Reality: Using Environmental Monitoring to Test and Improve Chemical Risk Assessment
How do prospective assessments compare with what monitoring shows? Topics range from building realistic assessment scenarios to testing predictions and evaluating real-world outcomes.
Chairs: Ayesha Siddique, Sabine Duquesne, Yann Devos, Alexandra Kroll
6.03 Buried Risks and Hidden Insights: Advancing Sediment Risk Assessment for Regulation of Ecosystem and Human Health
How can sediment be brought back into environmental assessment frameworks? The session spans environmental chemistry, ecotoxicology, biodiversity and ecosystem functioning, with the aim of producing actionable insights for regulation.
Chairs: Casado-Martinez Carmen, Aurea Chiaia-Hernandez R., Ivo Roessink, and Elmar Becker
Abstract deadline: 10 November
