Innovative risk assessment of pharmaceuticals, antimicrobial resistances and pathogens (Pharm-ERA)

The contamination of soil and water by pharmaceuticals, antibiotic-resistant bacteria and pathogens is an urgent problem that threatens both our environment and human health. The Pharm-ERA project brings together scientists, public and private stakeholders and EU policy makers to tackle this urgent problem. With a total of 10 PhD projects in environmental chemistry, ecotoxicology, microbial ecology, molecular biology and modelling, the project is developing innovative solutions and improving monitoring techniques and environmental risk assessment.

The Ecotox Centre is involved in the supervision and secondment of fellows and in the joint training programme, for example through courses during the summer school in Malta on "Environmental Chemistry, Ecotoxicology and Risk Assessment". The Ecotox Centre participates in the meetings of the project and is a member of the supervisory board.
