Inge Werner: Farewell from the Ecotox Centre
Inge Werner led the Ecotox Centre for nine years, and in that time established and cemented its success. She resigned from the leadership role in 2019 as part of her staged road to retirement. At the end of August she will be retiring fully and returning to her home of choice in California. She talks here about her passion for ecotoxicology as well as the difficult rules in Swiss laundry rooms!

Benoit Ferrari new director at the Ecotox Centre, with Etienne Vermeirssen as deputy director
On July 1, Benoit Ferrari will permanently take over as director of the Ecotox Centre, which he has already led ad interim for the past two years. He will be supported by Etienne Vermeirssen, group leader of Aquatic Ecotoxicology, as deputy director.

Microplastics in the environment
Plastic particles are everywhere - in water, in soil and also in food. But too little is known about the effects of the particles on ecosystems and humans. Therefore, the risk assessment of the substances remains difficult. The Ecotox Center informed about the current state of knowledge in an online course in January.

Biomonitoring for plant production products in Switzerland
A monitoring concept for residues in Swiss agricultural soils is currently being developed as part of the action plan for the reduction of risks and sustainable use of plant protection products. The most important steps are the development of ecotoxicological guidance values for soils and the selection of suitable biological indicators.
